Since moving to South East Asia in 1996, Kate has been responsible for the design development, commercialization and production of high-quality & technology products ranging from sports & fashion footwear to amenities for award-winning international hotels.
With a background and education in Footwear Design and Information Technology, Kate was recruited by Nike International in 1996 to manage the production of high-tech footwear in Jakarta, Indonesia.
In 1999 Kate relocated to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to take over the in-country business operations of FT International, a United Kingdom based manufacturer of shoes for High Street retailers including FCUK, Marks & Spencers, NEXT and most of the UK High Street.
In 2001 Kate was recruited by Reebok International to management business development and production for Vietnam. During this time Kate was responsible for managing a growth in production from 100,000 units/month to nearly 800,000.
In 2003, Kate joined forces with architect & workplace strategist, Andrew Currie to create OUT-2 design, a multidisciplinary design consultancy with a current clientele base across the Asia Pacific and Australia.
Kate’s primary role at OUT-2 is to develop business strategy and to oversee the development and implementation of large & small scale production for projects across the region. Her knowledge is a key factor in our ability to provide our clients with innovative, world-class solutions in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Kate’s recent projects include:
Islington Hotel, Australia: Product development, materials sourcing and manufacturing for the Islington Hotel – the only hotel in Australia to make Conde Nast Travel's “top Hotels for 2006 list”
Unilever HCMC: Workplace Strategy & design for Unilever Vietnam’s National Head Office
Unilever Hanoi: Workplace design and building refurbishment for Unilever Vietnam’s Hanoi Head Office.
