About YinHwa

Yin Hwa Precision Last's LEED-Certified manufacturing and development centre in Dong Nai, Vietnam, is a shining example of the seamless integration of architecture and interior design working together to create a building and a workplace focused on achieving the highest standards of sustainability and workplace wellbeing—from the cost-effective hybrid façade that naturally lights and ventilates the building, to the double-height atrium allowing full-size trees to oxygenate the interior spaces, Yin Hwa’s new workplace provides staff with best-in-class facilities, ranging from the open-plan office areas to formal and informal meeting spaces, breakout areas, workshops, a canteen, gym, as well as indoor and outdoor recreation areas.

BREATHABLE ARCHITECTURE: A Hybrid Modular Façade for Natural Daylight & Ventilation

One of the most distinctive architectural features of the project is the hybrid breathable façade, which allows interior space to receive controlled natural daylight and ventilation. While the modular system developed by OUT-2 Design appears geometrically complex, it is simple and cost-effective in its application and construction, using simple building materials and construction technologies common to the industry. The geometry was inspired by the CNC manufacturing processes deployed by Yin Hwa, thus creating a close cognitive connection between the client and their building.

A PLAY OF LIGHT & SHADOW

The building's clean, bright, white colour was selected specially to allow the interplay of shadow and daylight throughout the day and across the seasons, creating a dynamic building envelope constantly changing to convey the prevailing conditions of the day. Although the same modular veil wraps around all faces of the building, different infill materials are used to optimise the performance of interior spaces. For example, double glazing encloses areas requiring more stringent environmental and temperature control.
